As a professional personal trainer, what do you think is the most frustrating part of operating the business? Is it finding new clients/making yourself known online/offline, managing the existing clients (communication, scheduling training sessions, etc.), or anything else? Is there anything you think technology can help alleviate such a problem?
Oh my gosh how refreshing to see some people are in the same boat as me!! I love my clients and my job! I find it to be fullfilling as well as challenging (coming up with workout routines for somone whose restrictions include: no squatting, no bending, no twisting, no walking for more than ten minutes, no lifting heavier than ten pounds! Whew!) Anyways. As for frustrations I get somewhat frustrated with cancelations. Yes I am getting paid. However, I do have clients that cancel often (or don’t show without calling) and I get annoyed. I have clients who tell me they want to lose weight and then tell me they went out to eat all weekend. Also I have clients who come in with some want/need to lose weight and they complain the whole session. Things like that are sort of frustrating, but only because of what was mentioned above. I care about my clients and I really would like them to care about themselves and their health as well. You can only tell them so much and the rest they have to do on their own.
I am just starting out and although Cancelations can be disappointing, Life happens. i try not to let it frustrate me I just make sure I keep in contact with my client to make sure they know I am here when they are ready. My frustration at the present is trying to get some experience under my belt and build a strong client base.
This is a great industry to be in. No frustrations from my part either. I work for myself so if anything goes wrong I’m the one to blame. This is a stress less job and I enjoy every moment of it. I learn new things every day and for me that is the most rewarding part of this job. Meeting new people is another great part of the job and doing this job is something I chose to do.
I love my job!!! However, when I have an training session set at 6 a.m. and they do not show or they call me at 5:45 to say they are not going to make it. This makes my job difficult. The other pet peeve that I have is when my clients to do not eat right…..diet is key, without a healthy diet you will spin your wheels. Other than those minor issues. I enjoy what I do immensely!!
