I understand what you are saying. The word “wellness” is a hot word in fitness, yet very generic. I think it confuses the public as to what that means. I am certified through AFPA as a “Nutritionist & Wellness Coach”, but I wasn’t sure if a “Health Coach” held more weight or not. Trying to get into the medical or corporate field.
I see that IDEA has an article listed on Health Coaching which I want to read, hoping it will clarify things for me. I don’t want to use my time and resources to take the “Health Coach” cert if it is the same as my AFPA cert which I mentioned before.
I don’t think “health coach” at this time has more clout than “wellness coach” in the market place at this time. It’s easy to become a Health Coach for at least one multi-level marketing company that sells prepackaged meal replacements, just buy the starter kit. And on the other hand there are people who go through an extensive educational process.
