What’s a good resistance training program for cardiac rehab patients?
Hi Lori,
there is no such things as a ‘good resistance training program for cardiac rehab patients’.
The fact that they have cardiac problems is unrelated to any musculoskeletal problems they may have. You assess their abilities as you would any other client and implement a program based on what you find. The parameters for load and intensity should come from the physician or physical therapist, and I would get the doctor to sign off on your exercise recommendations but there is not one generic program.

I agree with Karin and Sue. There are a few factors you must take in consideration such as at which phase of rehab the patient is at, the type/level of surgery he/she had, the recommendations/guidelines of the doctor and/or PT, the age of patient and previous fitness level. in other words, there is no correct answer here.
I think this question may best be suited for a doctor. But in the time being, check out this link
