By working with other personal trainers you can 1. Learn new ideas and ways of doing things. 2. Scout out the competition and 3. Network with other trainers who can fill in for you when you need a substitute.

The relationship between trainer and client can be quite intense. You are working closely with people for what can end up being many years.

During this time, they will experience numerous ups and downs in their lives, many of which they will share with you: marriage, pregnancy, job changes, loss of loved ones, and so on. The nature of the trainer-client relationship is physical, mental, and emotional. You are being placed in a position of trust, and must take great care to respect that position

Hello Michele,

I am honest and clear with my clients at all times. Questions are not always asked clearly, prompting me to ask for more detail.
Take care.

I would be totally honest. There have been times in my fitness career when I have trained with my mentors to a) get together and exchange ideas~exercises b) be trained (pay) to accomplish a physical task that I hadn’t done before.
I wouldn’t consider working with others for CEU’s etc, an honest answer. I would ask the client to clarify. If the answer is no, it’s no.
However, being a client or shadowing another trainer for a session or 2 can be very valuable. It’s always important for me to put myself in someone else’s shoes. By the same token, I would NEVER ask a client to do a series of exercises or workout I’ve never tried myself.

I can answer honestly…

yes

I wanted to learn better stroke technique swimming, i’m a dense guy usually 200+ w/good muscle. I can swim but wanted to learn to swim efficiently.

This is part of foundation know self, when assistance is needed I look 4 experience, practicable/specific knowledge base & how it is presented/applied & a general comfort level.

I am more rounded and have some technique to expand on.
