What types of exercise program would you perscribe for a client with Adrenal Fatigue?
Adrenal fatigue is not really a recognized medical diagnosis. However, the syndrome can be “treated” by healthy lifestyle modifications. Of course the client should be cleared by a physician first, but a good workout program (probably not intense at first so as not to cause more stress to the body), including strength, aerobics and flexibility, as well as a stress reduction program, healthy moderate eating and proper sleep can go a long way to reducing symptoms that fall under this condition.
Personal Trainers do NOT Prescribe exercises, we do however follow instructions based off of the client (not patient)’s health care provider.. FYI Like Janet mentioned above have this client see a doctor before they begin any sort of exercise program. For their safety and yours.. Also how does the client know they have Adrenal Fatigue?? Secondly if they haven’t seen a doctor have them ask their doctor some simply Do’s and Don’ts.
How do you know it’s adrenal fatigue? It seems to be “the thing” going around these days!
It’s very difficult to diagnose
If this person truly does have adrenal fatigue they need to be under the care and supervision of their doctor. Once the doctor clears them of no exercise I would suggest written medical clearance along with a list of exercises that are acceptable.
Hi Renae,
The client should be medically cleared for exercise by a physician. An option to prepare an exercise program would be to discuss concerns and exercises to use/avoid with the physician.
You may want to ask about levels of exertion for the client as well as this could be a big factor.
Good luck to you and your client.
