What makes you a good Personal Trainer?
Hi David,
I agree that passion is a must. Your clients can always tell if you have it–or if you are just going through the motions. Knowledge and continuing education are important for me, personally, to be a good trainer. Patience makes me a good trainer. The ability to train a client at his or her appropriate level with proper form, and not rush progression makes me a good trainer. The ability to realize my own strengths and weaknesses as a trainer and continue to grow makes me a good trainer.
However, even more important to me is communication with my clients and my ability to connect with my clients on a personal level. I know them. I get them. I care about them.
I understand their strenghs and their weaknesses, and their lifestyle. That helps me prepare a program just for them that fits into their busy lives.
I really love every minute of helping others get fit and healthy. It makes me happy to see positive changes in health, and those changes carry over into many aspects of my clients’ lives.
