To the contrary, there is La Blast Shape and there is La Blast Silk… 2 levels of intensity just as Zumba has Zumba and Zumba Gold… both programs have something to offer all levels of ability. The main difference between the 2 dance fitness programs, La Blast and Zumba, is that Zumba dance classes SHOULD (and I say this because, over time, instructors have begun to stray from the original dance formats)be rooted in Reggaeton, Latin, and Bollywood and La Blast classes utilize structured ballroom dance patterns (Foxtrot, Disco, Hustle, Tango, Waltz, Samba, to name a few), sometimes with weights sometimes without. The instructor training is distinctly different, as are the classes. One will realize the differences when trying out both. One would never say that Ballet and Jazz are similar even though both are dance, right?
Nor would one say that Bob Fosse “jumped on the bandwagon” because Martha Graham made a career for herself by dancing. Many different expressive forms of dance to enjoy so keep dancing and have fun 🙂
it appears to me that the difference between LaBlast and Zumba is the same as between ‘Spinning’ and ‘Cycling’. Somebody hopped on the bandwagon and tries to rely on his image created as an instructor in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to get in on the market. I will probably have greater appeal to a slightly older market because it comes across as a little less athletic.
