What kind of water shoes do you for recommend for aquafit? Our class moves from deep water to shallow water and back again.
I have taught Aquatic Exercise for many years and have ordered 100’s of aqua shoes for students and go through 2 pair a year at least. Students and instructors of all ages need what is appropriate and specific for Aquatic fitness. People wear these types of shoes in shallow water to add a bit of traction, protect against abrading their feet and prevent joint discomfort. They offer cushioning like a real sneaker and drainage on the bottom. Specific Aquatic shoes rather than conventional “water shoes” also help to rebound intensely (if desired) off the pool floor. While in the deep water the slight resistance and weight makes for a better workout especially when performing “core” type exercises.
For Women: Ryka Aqua Fit (#2 & #4 are a bit narrow) is the most universal pleasing, true to size, come in different colors. The other popular shoe is Avia aqua trainer. I don’t even tell clients/students about it. Lacing system is a pain. For men less choices are available.Speedo’s hydro TRBZ has bottom drainage. Great find too by Karin above.
Have fun!
