Land’s End always has water shoes, and I was surprised to find one for men. Here is a link http://www.landsend.com/products/mens-water-shoes/id_279124. They look to me that they won’t fall apart at the first contact with water.
I teach aquatic exercise from senior fitness to elite athlete, from post rehab to performance enhancement. Some of the best shoe companies I have found for this are:
These are usually quality shoes that hold up for a long time. The pool bottom is important as well. Most of these shoes do very well on a rough/textured bottom, which is the type of pool bottom that I prefer. I have not had to deal with a smooth/slippery pool surface in years. But almost any shoe is better than no shoe in a shallow water situation. As I teach the class, I go for a high quality long lasting shoe. But I have worn simple slip on water shoes when I couldn’t find a decent replacement shoe in a pinch. They don’t hold up well though.
I have taught Aquatic Exercise for many years and have ordered 100’s of aqua shoes for students and go through 2 pair a year at least. Students and instructors of all ages need what is appropriate and specific for Aquatic fitness. People wear these types of shoes in shallow water to add a bit of traction, protect against abrading their feet and prevent joint discomfort. They offer cushioning like a real sneaker and drainage on the bottom. Specific Aquatic shoes rather than conventional “water shoes” also help to rebound intensely (if desired) off the pool floor. While in the deep water the slight resistance and weight makes for a better workout especially when performing “core” type exercises.
For Women: Ryka Aqua Fit (#2 & #4 are a bit narrow) is the most universal pleasing, true to size, come in different colors. The other popular shoe is Avia aqua trainer. I don’t even tell clients/students about it. Lacing system is a pain. For men less choices are available.Speedo’s hydro TRBZ has bottom drainage. Great find too by Karin above.
I think these outdoor basketball shoes like this https://101boots.com/best-outdoor-basketball-shoes/ are perfect for you. Initially, I bought them for basketball, but they are perfect for any sport, including akfafit. I think they are versatile and very comfortable.
