High intensity interval training! It keeps me challenged, engaged in the moment (no time for a wandering mind), and is a great way to economize my time and get the most effective workout for my sport.

A 60 mile bike ride (3-5 hours), followed with a major muscle group stretch. When your client is somewhat limited in physical capability, your challenge as a trainer is to find the best activities that fit within his/her envelope of accomplishment. Maybe it’s just a 3 mile ride!

Warm up first using larger muscle groups.
For upper body:
Raking leaves alternating with declining sets of pullups. Go for more total reps instead of more reps per set.

For lower body:
Sumo Squats, Bulgarian Squats, Resistance Band side shuffle(place both feet on a resistance band, hold one end in each hand and pull up as you side-step works the abductors and gluteus medius)

For core:
planking, supermans and turkish get ups

Full body: running and soccer or basketball

For cardio, I cannot get enough of my bike!

Strength training:
TRX is my latest flavor of the month.

Functional fitness:
My all out hands down favorite exercise is the renegade row. I love performing them and I love how they target core, upper back, shoulders, chest, arms…all at once.
