What is your number one reason for attending the IDEA show?
I attended Inner IDEA 2011/San Diego with the desire to study Pilates with some of the expert teachers. I wasn’t disappointed as all the teachers were seasoned and passionate about sharing their knowledge. The conference environment was ideal for the mind/body experiences of Pilates, yoga and other disciplines. I truly enjoyed the Stott Pilates courses especially benefitting from taking PJ O’Clare’s Pilates with Props I and II. I look forward to attending another Inner IDEA.
Education and exposure to new ideas.
I attended IDEA conferences since 1995, at least one per year, often two. Initially, I was like a kid at a buffet, not exactly knowing that I liked out of all the choices. Even today, I enjoy going to classes I never experienced before, or listening to new subjects.
Getting a small bite of new stuff has often motivated me to dive into specific subjects in greater depth. It was the exposure to MELT in 2009 which has prompted me to pursue a MELT Instructor certification which has significantly transformed my training apporach.
I have been attending Idea fitness since the early 90’s. I always find the conferences to be enlightening, fun, and motivating. I am particularly encouraged to find presenters on the same page in regards to the integrity of the body and its function. I am particularly impressed with the Grey Institute. The conference in Alexandria was one of the best I have attended in recent years.
Exposure to new ideas; networking with other fitness professionals; developing potential business partnerships; and giving my own practice and studio visibility within the industry. These are all great reasons for attending IDEA and other fitness events in my opinion. And “yes,” it works.
