What is the quickest weight loss people have experienced?
Hmm. I’ve had several clients lose up to a pound PER DAY in a completely healthy way and they have kept it off! Very happy for them! They did entirely through diet but didn’t count calories and simply switched to low carb, high-fat, moderate protein diet with plenty of fresh vegetables. One of them was a new mother with a 6 month old baby and she was able to lose weight almost effortlessly using some of my simple diet principles! Thanks Nancy!
This is a very subjective question
There are so many factors that go into this such as how overweight is your client to begin with?
As we all know many people lose “a lot ” of weight initially but then reality comes into play
Looking at your profile I don’t see that you are a registered dietitian or have a degree in nutrition?
As personal trainers, it is not within our scope of practice to give out “diet plans” or specific nutritional advice.
If you do have the proper qualifications it would be great to see them.
My understanding of the studies that I have read is that the quickest weight loss is not well correlated with keeping it off the longest.
Of course, the promise of quick weight loss has been used for a very long time to sell magazines and books and exercise equipment and supplements…. But I think part of our role as professionals who work on wellness and health is to promote a more reasoned expectation and process.
The nutritionist I most admire for her professionalism and knowledge (and the one I recommend to students who are interested in nutrition and weight control) underscores that as well.
Hi Zachary,
my personal experience: 20 lbs in 4 weeks. I had severe pneumonia, was hospitalized for a week and have absolutely no idea how I could have possibly lost that much weight in such a short period of time.
It was probably a result of dehydration, limited caloric intake and the body using an amazing amount of energy to fight the intruder.
Not a way I recommend!
