What is the healthiest nut butter?
I have wondered the answer to this question too. I found two sites that gave both an ingredient breakdown and a nutritional breakdown.
http://reneeclerkin.com/healthy-shopping-tip-nut-butters/
gives both the nutritional and ingredients with specific brands
http://eating-made-easy.com/2011/02/23/which-is-the-healthiest-nut-butte…
just gives a generic ingredient breakdown
I have absolutely no authority on this subject other then the sites I gave. I was just interested in this question and started to look up some answers. I will check back to see what others have posted. In the meantime, until I hear otherwise, it looks like on the first site for both ingredient and nutritional value, the next type I am personally going to try is Trader Joe’s Raw Unsalted Almond Butter!
Hi Jason,
from what I know, each of the different nut butters has its unique benefits. The thing I would watch for is that the ONLY ingredient is the nut itself, preferably organic. Some commercial brands have added stabilizers, and while it’s all FDA approved, I would try to stay away from it if possible.
At our local Whole Foods, you can make your own nut butter right there in the store.
