Assessing flexibility of a muscle for example the hip flexors is using the thomas test by bringing one knee up the client’s chest and examining the contralateral leg height. If the contraltateral leg is tight the knee will be bent with the hip.
Assessing muscle length is outside the scope of personal trainers’ because it goes back to the end feel that the muscle has when examining it. Because personal trainers haven’t studied this unless they are physios or doctors, they can’t give an impression.
