Periodization! you should be planning different phases ahead of time. I prefer to plan out 3 month macrocycles with 1 month mesocycles and 1 week microcycles. This prevents boredom and keeps the body adapting.
To add to Debbie’s response: anticipate the wall or plateau ahead!! Plan for it; have your plan B, C, and D ready to get you over the hump so that you might actually avoid hitting the wall in the first place:)
