What is the best way to become a Teacher Trainer?
I am looking to progress my practice to Teacher Training. I have an Intern at the college that I am working with, and want to bring it to the next level. What certifications are available through IDEA? Do my insurance requirements change?
I am not sure what is offered by IDEA but I am a Group Exercise Trainer for the YMCA of the USA. The YMCA offers many opportunities to be Trainers in specific areas of fitness. It is a great organization and the best part-time job I have had. I certify instructors to be Group Exercise and also certify in Step/Cardio. I have been in the fitness business for 19 years and love it.
I don’t think there is one simple pathway in becoming a Teacher Trainer. I have been running my own Teacher Training business for about 26 years which is where I make the most money and have total creative and professional control. My workshops are AFAA approved and ACE professionals may petition because I have a Kinesiology degree. I do plan on getting my courses ACE approved this year, I present workshops CAHPERD, YMCA and AFAA.
Here are some tips.
1. Decide what organization(s) that you want to be a Teacher Trainer for and/or do you want to start your own Teacher Training business. Then find out all the requirements to becoming a Teacher Trainer (membership, certification, degree, years of experience, years of education, professional references, resume, curriculum vitae, etc)
2. Frequency enhance your resume and curriculum vitae)
3. Whenever you take workshops, take more notes on their teaching methods.
4. Take workshops on how to be Teacher Trainer (communication skills, types of learners, lesson planning, etc)
5. Attain multiple memberships through different organization to increase your resources.
***In a nutshell, research your occupation by networking with other professionals
Hi Michelle! Kudos to you for wanting to spread your knowledge and experience by training other trainers! In answer to your insurance question, that will depend a lot on the working arrangement that you have with your new trainee. I would highly recommend your contacting your insurance company and asking them some very direct questions. After all, you want to be sure that you’re covered, so by explicitly describing to them exactly what you’re planning to do, they can give you some very direct answers.
Good luck and enjoy!

This is the huge hole in our industry
We need teachers to train other new teachers
I have been going to various fitness classes lately and from what I am seeing it’s a huge problem!
I have just started a fitness consulting business because of this issue and am making contacts with business owners about improving their businesses. Many owners are too burnt out to go in and watch what’s happening at their studios or gyms which I can understand, but the industry as a whole is suffering.
Oh, I have a similar situation, so I would also like to know what certificates are needed for such a career growth, or maybe I even need to pass some college course. Once, when I was writing an examination paper, when I needed to pass a teacher’s exam, I began to read reviews about writing service edusson and there I found the help I needed. I was just thinking about how to find the right educational program for this case. It’s just really difficult, since I found many courses where they issued incomprehensible certificates that obviously would not be accepted by employers.
