What is in your fitness book library?
Hi guys, this is actually quite an interesting topic, and in such cases, I always use one educational platform thanks to which I can find any information, such as this https://freebooksummary.com/macbeth-and-physical-appearance-21354 or much more. They also do excellent reviews on books and related materials. Perhaps this will be useful to you.
My favorite is Thomas Myers “Anaromy Trains” for a unique way of looking at the body from a myofascial line point of view. Another of my priced possession is the DVD set by Gil Hedly called “The Integral Anatomy Series”.
But I also get the Anatomy Coloring Book out periodically, particularly if I want to illustrate something to a client.
I keep all my IDEA journals for references. I also use my ACE personal trainer manual and my ACE exercise science book quite often. I’m a believer in psychological well-being. Fitness, to me, starts with the mind. I keep a few “self-help” books on the shelf. I think one of the best books out there right now is called The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It’s all about the now, as you probably guessed by the title. I think my favorite quote out of this book is “All problems are illusions of the mind.” It puts things in perspective. It’s all about a sense of control. What are you in control of at this very moment? What can you do about a certain situation at this very moment? Things like that.
It’s been helpful with my clients because getting them to think about the now, takes their minds off of all the other stresses that are going on. For that one hour, that NOW, my client has made a committment to better his/her mind and body by releasing all that built up energy and stress through exercise.
Oh my gosh, where to begin! I too often refer back to my ACE personal trainer manual as well as my Fitness Professional’s Guide to Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Human Movement. It has a great CD accompaniment that really explains the movements of the body and how different exercises impact different areas. My latest fave is Framework by Dr. Nicholas Dinubile. Its about exercising the body for “functional fitness” and injury prevention. Its a really easy read. I often recommend it to clients who have been suffering from an injury for years and are afraid to work that specific area.
As a triathlete and runner myself, I have numberous books on those topics, as well as books on pre/post natal training (Fit to Deliver being my favorite) and training women since my business focuses on these clients.
besides the usual ACE, ACSM, CSCS, and NASM guideline books, textbooks and manuals…
