What is CA law on Women Fitness Facilities and discrimiation of men.
I’m opening up a Women’s Dance Fitness Facility and already have a man who wants to join. Some classes like Belly Dance, Burlesque, and Pole are really designed for women and would make my female members VERY uncomfortable to have a man with them while they try to learn how to dance. Not sure CA Law on how I can get around Male members. If I cannot get around it, am I able to limit the type of classes they can join in on at a discounted rate?…or is that also discrimination?
Hello Kristine,
You can check with the California Attorney General’s Office:

Please let us know what you find regarding your question.
I Hope This Helps!

Hi Kristine. Michael gives the best advice here in my opinion. Contact the Attorney General’s office with your question. Or better yet, have your lawyer do it since you have one – that way they can discuss it attorney-to-attorney.
I hope that this helps.
