What insurance should I get if I have multiple certifications (personal training, yoga, nutrition)?
I have a certificate in plant-based nutrition and am currently attaining a certification in personal training and then a mind-body certification (yoga/Pilates) through ACE fitness. With these I want to open a wellness business similar to health coaching or life coaching. Which insurance would be best for me?
In addition to the insurance offered by IDEA you can check http://www.fitnesspak.com/ offered through Interwest Insurance Services; they have a dedicated line for ACE certified professionals at (800) 873-3725 ext. 3168. Alternatively you can check with Francis L. Dean & Associates based out of California at www.fdeanca.com (888) 416-9091 Ext. 104; they also specialize in sport and fitness insurance.
Most insurance providers will cover you for all activities you are qualified for; but be sure that it covers you everywhere you intend to teach (at your home, clients home, gym) and under what type (self employed, employee, contractor with gym, you own retail location, and so forth). You many want to look into getting an umbrella policy from your regular policy holder as well and be sure to ask if anything business related would be covered under your policy (such as home owners) when applicable.
