As Salvador mentioned, mitts and wrist wraps should be worn for protection and wrist stability. As i also teach womens boxing, i use a cloth bag on a stand. i put extra weight on the base so the stand does not move. i dont know your expierence with boxing or i you work alone. if you exercise alone, the bag can swing too much and, become a danger and, interfere with your exercise session. Some of my bags i have controlled the swing by using those elastic straps you can buy in a hardware store to hold your trunk of your car down. i simply tie a rope around the bag tight and hook one end of the strap into the rope and the other end into something solid. i use several. this allows a nice kick without losing control of the bag. Most important is to find a bag that is comfortable for you. That is your best bag.
