I agree with Harris that it depends on budget, space, etc…, and I would do some research.
My suggestion would be to visit a boxing gym for a few lessons and advice on different types of bags (it’s such an amazing workout and both challenging and fun). They should have qualified boxing instructors to help you.
I mainly teach cardio kickboxing (which is a class format without bags), and I’m not a bag expert, but I do work with clients doing boxing drills on the bag. We have a bag at the gym where I work–and I use the same bag to train both my male and female clients. Maybe not the best, but its works for both. I’ve also had sessions myself with a boxing trainer, and females at the boxing gym use a lot of the same bags as the men (depends on your drills). That being said, there are so many options out there, and perhaps there is a better option for females that a boxing professional would be able to help you with.
