I have trained about 20 teenagers in my career, and specifically in Pilates. Most teens struggle with self esteem and self-identity issues. There are numerous studies that show a direct correlation between active teens having a stronger self esteems. This is even more so with girls.
If we as trainers can help get teens to love movement and working out, we can put them on a path to stronger self and body acceptance.
I love to see a young client smile when I have gotten them to do something physically they were sure they couldn’t. It is pure joy for me.
