Sorry just realized I didn’t address the pitcher line.
Pitchers do not do as much conditioning relative to their position as you don’t want to increase the repetition of the throwing motion. So, the upper body work is often focused on increasing endurance and stability. Things to decrease the risk of injury to the rotator cuff, the elbow, the wrist and hands are indicated for pitchers.
Pitchers would still be wise to work very similarly to all other positions for the core (abs, spine, etc.) and the legs (sprints, start/stop drills, etc.). In general, conditioning is consider to be activities specific to performance of the sport. That could be sprints, agility, etc. Aspects of the athletic skills invovled. In some ways power drills are also conditioning drills. The separation of the two is not as clear as it is with power resistance training and resistance training in general. Power training can be a form of conditioning training, say having two football linemen oppose each other in an all out attempt for one to get past the other and the other not to allow it. Strength/resistance training is separated by the use of equipment to apply a load in a set movement pattern. Squats for instance would not be consider truly conditioning as control is important to the safety of the movement. Doing a squat with a light load and then performing a sport specific movement on the end/beginning would be more of a conditioning exercise.
I hope that clears it up a little for you. I had a hard work out last night and am a little fuzzy headed today (recovery days are majorly important as I tend to play too hard for my own good sometimes).
