Wellness encompasses a whole host of optimal patterns, feelings, and behaviors. It’s clearly a relative term; one person’s feeling of wellness may not be enough for somebody else and vice versa. I think wellness may be less dependent on concrete things like diet and exercise (though they are important), and more on one’s perception of how she feels and regards herself.
I think my college professor put it best. Wellness is
1. Intellectual Health (exercise your mind with new challenges)
2. Emotional Health
3.Socail Factor (community and friendship help you live longer; read opening chapter in “Outliers”)
4. Physical Aspect
5. Religion (Whatever you believe, It IS proven that having faith in a higher power reduces the risk of disease and increases lifespan)
