Both private training and group training have their benefits in different ways. They can help clients achieve their goals, but it comes down to preference. I think it depends on the client’s goals and comfort level. Some clients hire a trainer to reach certain goals and can be intimidated by their performance in group classes. Private training allows the client to have 100% of the trainer’s focus in a non-intimidating environment. Private training also allows a more personal connection with the client where the client can feel confident in his or her abilities.
Group training can be beneficial by providing a fun, stimulating and supportive environment. Some clients like the competitive nature of small group training. It can also create a support and accountability system.
Whatever the client enjoys and finds motivating–they’re both good!
