What do you charge for online training for clients you have not trained in person?
This is a bit more detail to the previous question I asked. I want to set up online training options for clients that are out of my range (distance-wise), or who can’t afford an in-home personal trainer. Have any of you done this? Have you filmed your own workouts for them? Do you have a video library of YOU demonstrating exercises, or do you use a resource for your videos? I would prefer to use myself as the example, as it is my own business. I am looking for software options, or a service that can help build my own video library for clients. Suggestions? Things that have worked for you?
Thanks so much for taking the time to help!

After further thought, what I think I want is to develop ,my own workout builder, using myself as the exercise demonstrator. I also want to be able to add a personal message to the client who is purchasing the videos in the beginning. Sorry for the running diatribe. I am thinking out loud, and my fingers are running rampant…;)

Hi Pedro,
There is nothing wrong thinking out loud as long as you get all the credit for your thoughts ;-)!
Using yourself as the trainer who will be performing the exercises and pass them to your clients, is the best way to go about it I think. Otherwise, why would potential client use your services? They can get all this information online and most likely for free. By using yourself in the videos, you actually accomplishing some level of connection with them, especially since you’ll never meet them in-person (if they live far away). Creating your own workout builder will serve you the best and you will get all the credit as well.
Personally I don’t put videos of myself out there and like I’ve mentioned in your previous question, I prefer Skype training than just an online connection/training. I like to have the face-to-face interaction with my clients either in person or via Skype. But that’s me and it doesn’t mean your idea is not a great one. There are many trainers who offer online training the way you are thinking to do it and they have great success with it.
One way to go about this is to create a list of exercises and/or routines that will help the client to reach his/her goals no matter what the fitness level is. You can offer progressions either on a single exercise and/or a routine and/or even you can offer it as a 4-8 week program (or longer) option. I know someone in Chicago who has done it this way, but I’m not sure how much success he had with it. You can sell it either as a session packages or charge a monthly fee depending the number of days they will be training (or not).
I would like to see what other think and especially from those who do offer this type of option for their clients. I think you are in the right track.
Best,
Harris
