What do find are the greatest challenges you face as a personal trainer?
Hi Thomas,
For many in this industry, finding clients is a big challenge. The field is growing and increasingly competitive, and you need to have a niche that sets you apart from everyone else.
I am happy with my current client schedule, and for me, one big challenge is keeping my focus on my own mission, education, and training philosophy–and not worrying about the competition or what others are doing. This helps me work harder on my own mission and serve my clients better.
The other challenge for me right now is a little burnout, taking care of myself and getting my own workouts in. As I’ve gotten busier with clients (with early morning and day training), my own training has taken a backseat. I’m aware of it and making the effort to get back on track.
Last, one other big challenge is meeting clients where they are in their stages of change. Many times they have goals, and we want to push them, but the client has to be ready to change. We do need to let go of the things we cannot control, yet be supportive and encouraging in clients reaching their goals.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Christine
