I have not taken any marketing classes. However, I have several techniques and tips that I use which has made my business skyrocket.
You do not need any marketing classes (in my opinion). There are so many great tips, ideas on the internet – just find and search for them.
The SINGLE best thing you can do to make your business grow is learn about SEO. If you can perfect that and get better at it – I guarantee your business will skyrocket.
I’ve self taught myself about SEO through reading, audiobooks and youtube. It works! I have 3 full-time trainers and we’re all busy ALL the time. We actually “fire” no serious clients. Business is that good to where, if we get clients who are not serious, not following our plans we refund them for used sessions and say “come back when you’re ready.”
SEO, SEO, SEO. I love the book how google work, any books that will teach how to build backlinks naturally, learn about white hat SEO and basically anything that has the word SEO and has good ratings is worth reading.
Remember, S.E.O. If you can rank high on google in your area, you will be very successful. My company does and I didn’t pay for it, I just did it like I mentioned above. Self taught, took awhile but it’s well worth it.
here’s a link to a google search done in my area: https://www.google.com/search?q=personal+trainer+severna+park&ie=utf-8&o…
My company Repke Fitness, which is only 3 years old ranks #1 for the keywords “personal trainer millersville, MD”
I’m not bragging, just want to show you that SEO works and if you can rank high – you will get non-stop steady flow of clients. Also use a social media that your clients are on. You don’t have to use all of them. – just what most of your clients use. For me it’s facebook. I don’t think you need twitter, instagram etc. UNLESS you already use them for yourself OR if you do see that most of your clients are on there. Whichever social platform you use, use it! In my opinion if you create it and don’t use it then it looks bad on your company – so pick one or several of them but USE IT.
Have you tried partnering with businesses in your area? You could set up an agreement where they offer their clientele a promo to your business and you offer yours a discount to their business. Each business can promote your promo both in their store, on their website, and on their social media pages – extending your local reach.
You can also get involved with your community outside of working with local businesses. Participate in local events to help get the word out.
Another great way to attract new clients is to get your current clients involved. Ask them to recommend your business to others. You can even start a referral program that will reward current members for any new people they bring into your business. Not only will you get new business, but you’ll help to retain your current clients.
I recently read this article and even though it’s about retention, it has some good overall marketing tips: https://www.ezfacility.com/blog/7-ways-to-retain-new-years-resolution-me…
