Harris is spot on. Education and evolution is a great foundation to success. I would also like to add, as I am sure you are aware of too being in the GMS business, you need to look & treat your business as a business, whether it be a training studio, one-on-one PT, or a full size gym/s.
Most people that start off in the industry do so not because they want to intentionally be an entrepreneur or own their own small business, but because they are passionate about their own health and want to help others with theirs.
I am not saying to discount the passion, heart, or inspiration that got you started in the industry, because most of the time that is what keeps us going even in the difficult times. But sometimes that passion/heart has to be pushed aside to make sound business judgments based on financials and goals that you set for your own future/family/business rapport. After all the instructions that you receive prior to take off while traveling in a plane is true. You have to place the oxygen mask on yourself (business) first before doing so to those who need assistance in order to soundly help them out once you can breath on your own.
This is why I wanted to develop my own GMS so I can create a program that motivates a gym owner or PT to see and treat their passion as a business. There is too much competition out there not too.
I hope this Insight helps.
