My children! Don’t get me wrong, I love them with every fiber of my being. They are wonderful little beings and I’m so glad that I get the opportunity to be a full-time mom and part-time trainer. But there are times when I wish I could spend more time training clients. My children are small right now (1yr, 2.5yrs and 6yrs) and they need more of my time. Eventually that will change as they all start school. So I train 3-5 clients 2-3 times a week right now. Hone my skills. Enhance my knowledge through CEUs and certifications. And enjoy the time I have with my clients and little ones. Make the most of what you have and plan for the future success!
Same as Jocelyn, although I only have an almost 2 year old. I now run a free community group fitness event one night a week, do online coaching, and create virtual accountability groups. I’m hoping to get back to doing bootcamps and training soon, but I’ll wait until my son is ready. The time with him is well worth the wait.
One of my new clients is being held back by fear of the unknown. What if she reaches her goal weight/health status and her “why” doesn’t end up happening? Is it still worth it? It’s a very tough mental block to break through, but we are working on it.
My virginity! I will graduate from NPTI in March with a certification in personal training and nutrition and still am unsure how to set pay scales and decide what I should charge for what I can provide. Then there is the other job(military) which prohibits us from promoting personal businesses at work. Last, is the availability of time. I am a father of three(7,5,3) and expecting a 4th(and final!!!!)
My plan is to slowly grow this into a viable business so that I am not obilgated to continue in federal service after military ‘retirement’ in 4 yrs. I am 38 and would like to pursue my own interest after giving 20 of my income earning years to Uncle Sam. Just some thoughts. Motivated, but looking for tips.
