What are you favorite “toys” (equipment) to use in group fitness?
That’s exactly what I call the fitness equipment I use and I try to incorporate new & different items each week. I find if I do not have enough of one particular item, I set up individual stations (boot camp) and leave a “toy” at each specific area with a piece of paper indicating the exercise to be performed. This works well with a class of say 12-14 as long as you have that many toys.
My favorites? I use dumbbells, barbells, steps, Bosu, kettlebells, body bars, balance discs, tubes, bands, TRX, Lebert bars, stability balls, medicine balls, toning balls, gliding discs, a sandbag, jump ropes, perfect push-up handles, ab wheel, and sometimes I bring regular household items in and leave them at the stations and have my class figure out what kind of exercise to perform with them. Like paper plates, which can be used as gliding discs 🙂
I love the 55-65 cm exercise ball; It is very versatile, fun, and helps to improve balance and core strength. It targets the core muscles on every exercise whether you are squatting, doing pushups, pelvic lifts, hamstring curls, or just bouncing on it. My students are always happy with the workout and their muscles are shaking when they leave.
