My answer would be no, but then am not sure 100% what you mean by “change”. I have swam Masters (post college swimmers) for many years. Doing sprints and short distance at high intensity definitely has carry over benefits outside the pool. No doubt about that. But the more I reread your question, guess I am not exactly sure what you are asking.
