All good answers suggesting good sources of iron. The research suggests that red meats, when combined with Vitamin C (e.g. orange juice) eaten at the same meal provide perhaps the best source of absorbable iron. I could talk about ferrous and ferric iron but I suspect that is beyond the intent of your question!

It has been undeniably shown that getting most of your nutrients from a plant based diet is superior to animal products. As iron is abundant in many plant foods, there is no reason not to get this nutrient from things like leafy greens. And as meat has so many downside elements, keeping meat to a minimum is highly recommended.
