I know that your question is geared towards a medical procedure. I would like to let you know about a self-treatment for spinal decompression which I teach as a MELT (Myofascial Energetic Length Technique) instructor. I teach that technique both one-on-one but even in group settings of 20 people or more. Self-treatment of neck and low back decompression techniques results in greater range of motion, a sense of lengthening and, particularly for the lower back, can result in significant improvement of lower back pain.
There are other techniques as well to lengthen myofascial lines as identified in Thomas Myers’ book ‘Anatomy Trains’.
