Controversial topics are going to be the best for getting more views. When you write an article don’t let the title give away your opinion. More people are likely to click it and skim through it to find your opinion, thus reading your article!
Topics that I see as controversial: Crossfit, HIIT vs Slow Cardio, Low Carb diets, Different types of training (one being better than the next), etc.
If your target audience is clients: best responses I’ve gotten were from off beat topics NOT what we read all the time (best ab exercise,HIIT, etc.). For instance: sports psychology, which group class is the best, what one stretch is the best for runners, accomplishing goals, staying on task, etc. and always accompanied with a catchy title that draws them in, without giving it completely away. My blog here “the power of yes”, got the most responses of anything I’ve ever written.
Two blogs I have written have generated interest among my target population. They are 10 Reasons Women Need to do Strength Training and HELLO Weightloss Tips (HELLO–Healthy, Every-day, Long-lasting, Lifestyle Options). My main target population is women from the ages of about 30-65 years, and these two topics are a constant stream of dialogue for them! 🙂
