I have 13 women, some clients doing a 7 week body challenge with them. Obviously I will be measuring progress by body fat%, measurements, weight and overall body transformation pictures.
Starts May 6th-June 24
Cost is $50 and they will win pot of money as well as 5 sessions with me and meal plan from certified natural chef and some other goodies.
Concern is I have a lot of women who are thin and just need to gain muscle. How do they compete against a woman who needs to lose 25 pounds? Should I put them in groups or partners? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
That’s going to be rather challenging as you are mixing two different outcomes.
You will either have to reward someone for a strength or hypertrophy goal or a goal of weight loss. Even then it is going to be difficult.
Wish I had some suggestions but the playing field is so uneven it seems like you will have to have two groups with each one working toward a specific outcome.
Best to you.
Joanne is correct: the playing field is so different that there is no way you can compare the progress of one versus the other.
However, since you have announced this to be a weight loss competition, I would just stick with that. You can still go with ‘most improved body composition’ if you want to shy away from the number on the scales which gives those skinny ones a chance to compete. The outcome has to be objectively measurable.
Good luck with that one.
Joanne and Karin have some great points. Maybe you can split them up depending on their BF%, those who are over 25% BF and those who are below that (you can come up with the number you think it’s fair). Or maybe you can split them up into teams (with a mixture of all sizes and fitness level) and at the end of the challenge measure the overall team loss of weight and BF%. This is a hard one for you, because these groups have very different goals.
Another option would be to have them compete in some type of a race as a team or teams. This way you don’t have to worry that much about weight and BF% loss, but put more emphasis on team building and motivation to accomplish their goals and do well on the race.
