Was IDEA fitness convention founded and controled by the people of ACE?
IDEA Health and Fitness Association was started in 1982 as a professional association serving fitness professionals and founded by Peter and Kathie Davis. In 1985, the Davis’ created the IDEA Foundation (501C3), a non-profit organization to be a national certification for the industry. Five years later, the IDEA Foundation changed its name to the American Council on Exercise (ACE) to ensure that there was no confusion between IDEA Health and Fitness Association and the certification agency, ACE. Today, IDEA and ACE work closely together in helping guide, educate and promote the benefits of exercise and fitness. IDEA also works with 155 other certification and training organizations in the industry. IDEA Health and Fitness Association and the IDEA Foundation (now ACE) have never been one organization but they were both founded by Peter and Kathie Davis.
