I have to put together a compensation package for an offer I received. My roll would be developing, launching, and administering an entire health program (training, meal planning, weekly check-ups, documentation, business operations) for a local doctor looking to expand his services. I currently make $45-50/hour through my own training business. I just need a ballpark figure from other trainers who may perform in a similar capacity. Thanks so much!
I would investigate similar jobs and their minimum requirements in your area at http://www.payscale.com/mypayscale.aspx. Then you can adjust your package presentation based on documented information. Hope this helps.
Hi Jessica. There are a few questions that come to mind here that my lead you to your answers. What is the business arrangement between you and the doctor’s office? Is the physician charging the client/patient and amount for this program and will pay you compensation for your work from that, or is your service a separately developed and charged service totally under your control? Do you want to charge per hour, or do you want to charge a fee for a “X-week program?” Depending on how many hours you estimate you will be spending on each client, one of these fee structures may work better for you than the other.
I know that this doesn’t give you an exact answer, but sometimes by asking yourself a few pertinent questions, you answer your own question. With a program such as the extensive one that you describe, I don’t think that anyone else can really give you a $$ figure to answer your question. You will need to investigate a bit; figure what your services are worth; estimate how much time you will spend; and determine what you need to make to be happy.
I hope that this helps and CONGRATULATIONS on such a potentially wonderful opportunity!
Good answers. This is not any different from approaching a corporation to offer them a wellness program. By now you should already have a plan in place for this doctor, but in a similar opportunity in the future I would charge the doctor’s office a set monthly fee for operating this type of business. Know what your time is worth and the effort you would be putting into it and then give them a price. Of course, there is always room for negotiation.
