I am starting a gym and need to know what type of coverage I’ll need. Classes offered are Crossfit, Yoga, Cardio Kickboxing, and Zumba, with the potential of renting out space for a Judo class. Do I need the Health Club Liability Insurance or the Group Fitness Insurance since these are all instructor lead group classes. No open gym or unsupervised access. There are also no large machines like treadmills, ellipticals or anything of that nature.
Of course we must insist you check with a legal professional.
But I would obtain the health club insurance. The Group Exercise Insurance is something you can provide to cover your instructors, or something they can pay for themselves.
But I would also suggest that you make sure you have the proper waivers and pre-screenings, and language within those documents. Again, a lawyer can help you with that.
Hi Andrew. Contact one of the many insurance companies that specialize in fitness business liability coverage. I would also seek the advice of a small business attorney, licensed in your State and experienced with this type of business.
