If I take the Trx group specialization course Am I able to teach a Trx group fitness class or need to get an accredited group trainer certification. I already am a personal trainer through AAPTE and have the ACE orthopedic fitness specialization and Trx specialization. I would like to teach a Trx group fitness class however am trying to find the most cost effective way of being able to teach the Trx group fitness class.
If your goal is to teach TRX group, then the Cert is all you need; however, should you choose to branch off into more general Group X classes, then an additional Cert will serve you well, especially if you plan on working outside of a personal studio. Makes you more diverse to potential employers.
The answer is yes: you will be able and equipped/trained to teach group TRX classes.
That said: It helped me when I first taught group fitness classes to go shadow some other instructors and take lots of other classes to get a feel for flow and how I wanted to inject my own style. I never got a specific “group” certification (like AFAA) and have done very well, but there’s a learning curve… I also came with a PT background. It just depends on how comfortable you feel with the dynamics.
Hello Marta Gabrielli,
It is not necessary; but, you will be a better trainer with group cert under your belt, and more professional to care for the clients in the best way possible. The most cost effective is being safe so no one is hurt; so, how comfortable are you teaching the TRX group without the group cert?
If you time your renewals well, your CECs will renew all your certs simultaneously.
