State of California requirements for personal trainers
Hi Bland,
even if the State of California did not require it, your better judgement should tell you that it is for our own protection. I found an article for you that makes a great case why you absolutely should have it. Here is the link http://mywifequitherjob.com/do-you-need-business-insurance-with-an-llc-o….

Hi Bland
I agree with Karin and Susan. Unfortunately this problem exists in every state. If you want to be a respectable business owner and a trustworthy trainer, I would advise you to have both the certification and liability insurance. Even if there are no requirements from your state to have a certification and/or liability insurance, I would still get those because the benefits from having them are significant. You can check around for the right liability insurance for you and I’m sure each one has its own requirements, which you have to meet so you can qualify for their programs.

Thanks everyone! I’m actually asking the question from a director/management standpoint. Just wanting to make sure the requirements we have as a club/fitness facility are in line with any state requirements that exist. I realize the state doesn’t license personal trainers, therefore figured they wouldn’t make any other type of requirements. We also have massage therapists onsite and they are licensed by the state and we try to keep liability lines consistent across the different service providers we have on staff. Thanks again! Beth
