Skype Personal Training
I am currently experimenting with Skype in Training sessions. I currently have an online training, running coach and nutrition counseling business that is 100% virtual (all through email and the members-only website) but have just recently added options for telephone and skype sessions. I have great success with individuals who are self-motivated, but for individuals who lack the self motivation to get a workout done, I recommend one-on-one training.
Any accredited certifying organization would recommend personal face to face communication.
Although with how quickly our world is changing and how much more we are all relying on computers it would not surprise me if more trainers attempt it.
Think back to the start of the fitness industry! Record players without pitch control !
I also have not used Skype for training clients. However, with that being said, I think that under the right set of circumstances (e.g. working with a long-standing client who you have confidence in knowing your exercise techniques etc.), it “could” work. Nowadays, the internet is being used for many things including things such as ‘tele-medicine.’ I don’t see why this would not work, we as trainers just need to be very selective who we use it with and be comfortable with the client and their level of skill and knowledge.
