Happy New Year everyone! We’ve been approached by a Beachbody coach about offering some exercise and nutrition classes as well as Shakeology products at our community Rec Center/gym. I am wondering if any other people have experience with this, if you would allow it, why or why not? Did it conflict with group fitness, personal training or any other offerings or add to them? ANY and ALL help would be appreciated!
In addition to having my own in-home business, I also train and teach fitness classes at my local community Rec center. We do not allow this type of program to be brought in to our facility (I double checked with management this morning). It would be a disservice to our own instructors and trainers who are hired by the facility. We have a policy of not allowing trainers from outside our facility to train clients at the center (they must work for the community center).
In addition to what I’ve mentioned above, allowing one group to come in to your facility would open up a can of worms for every other group out there. So just be prepared for that if you decide to allow them–others would soon follow.

I too agree with all of the above comments. I would be uncomfortable having a coach who is not trained specifically for fitness training. All of us who have received our training certifications have put in many hours of studying and applying the knowledge that we have learned. We are required to obtain continuing educational credits (CEC’s) to keep our certifications current and we must keep abreast on the newest information available.

I would not allow the supplements/nutrition aspect of Beachbody just because I don’t believe in it, but there is no reason why you couldn’t use an instructor for a class or two if it will draw attendees in and help generate more income for the business. You really have nothing to lose by adding the classes to see how they do, but be clear with them about nothing else as far as pushing products.
