Sample workout of someone on prednisone
Hello Valerie,
it would help if your re-phrased your question. Prednisone is a medication for any number of medical conditions, and it is towards that condition that the program needs to be designed.
Chances are that you need a physician’s approval for the person, and the doctor may already set some direction or limitations.

I have a client that has had a severe cough for weeks so the doctor has put him on Prednisone for 6 days. He has torn tendons in the past and is very concerned about this happening again. Can someone please help me with some ideas in training him? We train 5 days a week and he is 57 years old and in pretty good condition. Thanks so much!
Hi Valerie,
under the circumstances, I would refer to the doctor and ask him to make suggestions for modified exercises. It is my understanding that the 6 day treatment with prednisone has no impact on exercises but since your client is worried about tearing tendons, I would get something from the doctor in writing.
I would assume that the doctor will okay the exercises as before but this covers you much better than recommendations here. In the unlikely event that he suffers another tendon tear, you can point back to this documentation rather than to suggestions from this forum.

To follow in line with what Karin has suggested, if this is a recurrent issue, where he’s had issues with prednisone and tendon tear in the past, you may want to get exercise recommendations from the doctor to have on file regardless. You may also want any recommendations in regards to his cough and exercises he may need to avoid for awhile as some cough and lung inflammation can be exercise induced.
