I recently heard of a person that was hospitalized from an intense exercise session from a personal trainer. Unfortunately, that person was diagnosed with ” Rhabdomyolysis”.
Treatment in the hospital was multiple encisions in the skin to let the muscle swell to relieve pain and stress on the muscle and skin. Once the muscle recovered, skin was sutured.
Has anyone heard of similar cases?
I never heard of it until now but it did not take me long to find out how serious a condition this is. I can see how it can happen, particularly with younger and, probably, male clients where the trainer and the client are trying to compete who is more macho. I also suspected that is is not so uncommon in military training where the recruit may be reluctant to speak up. A google search confirmed that.
Thanks for posting this.
