Hi all. I have been looking through other topic “answer” section questions but wanted to post anyway in addition to the info I’m finding. I’m realizing that my passion really does lie more in the area of health and wellness coaching. Although I’m certified as a personal trainer, it is not NCAA recognized so some of the Health coach programs i’ve looked at do not recognize my experience and cert as meeting a pre-requisite. I have looked at Wellcoaches and the ACE healthe coach cert. I’ve also looked at Health Institute Coaching program (any feedback on it?) which looked extensive to me. I’m in dire need of information on a legitimate path into this career and any resource links would be appreciated. I’m interested in eventually working in corporate or community wellness environment versus independently. As always, everyone is so helpful, so thank you in advance!
I am certified through ACSM for personal training and group exercise . I looked into the Well coaches program but I found it to be too expensive and not my idea of how I thought a health coach needed to operate.
In my opinion, Well Coaches puts way to much on the client. I believe that ACE’s Health Coaching certification is much more realistic. I am thrilled that I obtained it and it has vastly enhanced my business.
There is an article on Health Coaching in the July-August edition of the IDEA Fitness Journal of which I was interviewed and quoted.
