Great question…Here are some helpful links:
I Hope This Helps!
As far as I have looked into, healthcare/insurance does not cover personal training.
The way around this some people do it go to their physical therapist, and the therapist “prescribes” a workout and hands them off to a personal trainer.
Personally, I don’t think I’d even accept clients from insurance companies/healthcare. They (insurance/healthcare) tend to be non-negotiable when it comes to prices, and you’ll suddenly be sold for a much, much lower rate- which can be bad if your other regularly-paying clients find out.
I believe the answer is no. I never had a client whose insurance paid for his training. The problem with Obamacare is that no one knows what impact it will have not just for our industry, but for the country in general. Physical therapy is covered by health insurance up to a point. You can check the sites Michael has posted and see what you find, but at this point even the lawmakers don’t have enough knowledge of what is covered and what is not under the new law. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until this law comes into an effect to really understand what it’s all about.
I agree with you that it will require a lot of paperwork and time for the claims to be processed. Government is not known for its efficiency and fast-paced problem solving techniques. If you find some new information please share it.
