Hi! I have just been told by my doc that I have plantar fasciitis due to overuse. I do one class a day ( strength training, mind-body, aerobics n step through the week). I also play tennis thrice a week for recreation.
Any suggestions how to continue the classes while trying to recover? I am doing the necessary stretches, massage n ice as per doc’s orders.
I would definitely follow doctor’s orders. If this is not treated properly or you go back too soon, it can take even longer to heal :/
I agree with Karin Singleton, evaluate how you teach, walk around and make it more educational. That’s one thing, with group classes I’ve taken the instructors rarely walk around the room. When I was competing sometimes I was to pooped to spin, so I focused more on the students. I have a teaching background, so I like that method anyway. I try not to use teaching exercise for my main exercise, that way class participants are my focus. Maybe you can swim or ?? if the doctor recommends/agrees. That way you can still get in exercise. If the doctor lets you, you can demonstrate then help people with their form.
