I may be the anomaly in this conversation, but here is what I did.
I took how much money would cover my basic needs then divided it by the total hours I wanted to work and got my base rates per hour. Then and only then did I look around at what others offered for rates and found that I wasn’t the most expensive and not the cheapest. If you can’t afford to live solely off of your training rates you need to know that right away. I don’t base my rates on others, I base my rates on MY SERVICE. You also need to consider the median income for your niche group.
