personal training rates
Hi Rachel,
there is no one answer to your question because the rates depend on geography, competition, type of training (eg. at a client’s home, at a gym), the overhead you have to cover (when having your own studio) and also how much people are willing to spend for your services.
For all I know, it may be as little as $20 and may be 10 times that much or more.
If you are trying to get a feel for how much YOU should charge, then it will be best to look around the area where you want to train and check out the competition.

Hi Rachel. Since personal trainers are running their own training practices or working for an employer, training fees are all over the board. As others have alluded to, prices vary based on several factors. Like any other ‘service business,’ what you (or another trainer) charges for their service is – pardon the pun – PERSONAL.
I hope that this helps.

I may be the anomaly in this conversation, but here is what I did.
I took how much money would cover my basic needs then divided it by the total hours I wanted to work and got my base rates per hour. Then and only then did I look around at what others offered for rates and found that I wasn’t the most expensive and not the cheapest. If you can’t afford to live solely off of your training rates you need to know that right away. I don’t base my rates on others, I base my rates on MY SERVICE. You also need to consider the median income for your niche group.
